Troubleshooting


This is (will be) a list of frequently asked questions when problems with board structure, customisation, member mangement, posting, etc.. occur. The list will be updated according to the needs and to questions asked by users. Mixed in are some generalfrequently asked questions.


Custom titles and auto titles


The automatic titles I had on ezboard moved over when the board mgrated, but they are now custom titles. Do I really have to edit them one by one?

The best way to deal with this is to bulk edit your members to disallow custom titles, this will hide all the titles at once. Then edit custom titles for individuals if you wish to give them a custom title.
Go to navigation -> admin menu -> all
Click 'select all' in the filter results to put your entire list of members on the clipboard.
Click 'edit members' in the clipboard section.
Check disallow custom titles

To give a custom title to an individual while custom titles are disallowed all across the board, click on the user name.
In the custom settings check 'enable custom titles'.
Edit to add a title.
The custom title will now show for this one individual but the titles for the other members of your domain will remain invisible.

The board owner is not included in the admin auto titles section. How do I distinguish myself as the owner of the board?

This is a known issue and will be fixed. In the meantime, you can edit a cusom title for yourself.



Membership requests.


How do I deny an application for membership on MBA boards?
There is currently no deny button. If you wish to deny the application, you can delete the user who applied.
Click on navigation -> admin menu -> pending
Click on the username you wish to delete.
The user will appear on the clipboard.
Click the delete button.

Where do I approve users who apply to individual forums? They're not showing in my pending list.
Click on navigation -> admin menu -> forum&chat Mgmt.
Click on security in the forum the user applied to.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see the pending application.
Click approve.


Moderators, admin and moderator options

My moderator clicked 'hide posts' but it leads to an error page.
Your moderator most likely used the interact menu in the poster detail section. This is not meant to hide a post by an individual, and it is not meant to be used by moderators.
To hide a post, moderators need to use the hide option inside the topics/replies.

I want to split a multi page topic but it won't work. No matter which page I start from, it always takes me to the first page.
Please use the topic tools located above the topic. The ones below the topics are currently not working for splitting multi page topics.

I made one of my mods a board wide mod by promoting them to admin and taking all admin functions away. Now this user no longer wants to be a mod, I demoted the user to member but (s)he is still showing as a mod.
When you promote an already existing mod to admin with the intention of making them a board wide mod, you need to take all their mod powers away in the forum they moderate first. If not, when demoting the user from admin back to member, the status will revert to the mod status of a specific forum, the way it was before you promoted the mod to admin without powers. (board wide mod)

I am a moderator but my delete/edit/hide etc... option is missing.
The board owner or an admin can decide how much power a mod will have in the forums. If your delete option or any other option is missing, the board owner most likely did not make this option available to the moderators.
